ANDREA ILLY is chairman of illycaffè S.p.A., a family-established business founded in Trieste, Italy in 1933, with the singular mission of producing the world’s highest quality coffee. He is the author of two books, Espresso Coffee: The Chemistry of Quality, which examines every scientific and technological issue related to coffee, and A Coffee Dream, published on the occasion of EXPO Milano, the world’s fair. Andrea was named an inaugural member of the Sustainable Business Leadership Council of Menus of Change in 2013. For the past five years, he served as chairman of The Altagamma Foundation, dedicated to promoting Italian luxury goods and cultural and creative industries while making them more competitive, contributing to the economic and social growth of the country.As a result of Andrea’s leadership in sustainability practices, in 2011 illycaffè earned the distinction of the world’s first company to receive the Responsible Supply Chain Process certification from leading industrial standards arbiter DNV-GL. Andrea’s dedication to responsible business practices has been recognized since 2013 as one of the World's Most Ethical Companies by Ethisphere Institute, a leading international organization dedicated to the creation, advancement, and sharing of best practices in ethics, corporate social responsibility, anti-corruption, and sustainability. Andrea has a master executive degree from SDA-Bocconi in Milan in 1993, and earned an advanced degree in chemistry from the University of Trieste in 1994. In 2012, he completed the Advanced Management Program at Harvard Business School and in 2014 completed the Executive Program at the Singularity University of Silicon Valley. (Trieste, Italy)
