As Saskatchewan Pulse Growers’ (SPG) executive director, Carl is responsible for providing strategic leadership to the organization and overseeing SPG’s work in the areas of research, market development and communications. Working for pulse farmers in Saskatchewan, Canada, SPG provides leadership and creates opportunities for profitable growth in the Saskatchewan pulse industry. SPG works collaboratively to lead the promotion of lentils in Canada and the USA under the Lentils.org promotional brand and supports the promotion of other pulses crops. A significant focus of the pulse industry is enhance the health, nutrition and sustainability of foods by incorporating more pulses into diets. Carl has over 15 years of experience in the grain industry in the areas of international market development, market access, trade policy, and government and industry relations. Prior to joining SPG in 2011, Carl served as the director of market access and trade policy and director of market development with Pulse Canada. Carl holds a masters degree in economics from the University of Saskatchewan.
