Ellen Kennedy

Ellen Kennedy has worked at the nexus of sustainable food and investment for two
decades, acting as a bridge between corporations, advocates, farmers,
farm workers, scientists, and shareholders. As Manager of Environment, Climate
Change, and Water for Calvert Investments, the largest sustainable investment
firm in the U.S., Ellen coordinated the advocacy and research of Calvert’s
sustainability analysts. She focused her own research at Calvert on the consumer
staples sector, particularly on farm-to-fork sustainability within food
companies. Ellen served on the sustainability councils of several Fortune 100
and 500 companies, filed shareholder resolutions on supply chain and other food
issues, and served on many boards and councils, such as the Equitable Food
Initiative and the UN Principles for Responsible Investment’s council on
consumer staples. Prior to joining Calvert, Ellen was a program officer for
Winrock International, managing alternative energy, agriculture and gender
projects in Latin America, and providing scholarships to female agricultural
scientists in Angola. She currently consults on investment and sustainable food
and agriculture and has been a member of the Menus of Change Sustainable Business Leadership Council since its beginning in 2013.
Ellen earned a master’s from UC Berkeley in international relations and Latin America and a BA from Haverford College. (Bethesda, MD)
