Naila Varawalla ‘23

Food Business Management Bachelor’s Student, The Culinary Institute of America; Student Fellow, Menus of Change University Research Collaborative | Hyde Park, NY

Naila Varawalla ’23 is a food business management bachelor’s student at The Culinary Institute of America (CIA), and student fellow for the Menus of Change University Research Collaborative (MCURC).  In addition, Naila has worked in the Menus of Change Kitchen at  he CIA since the fall of 2020, and this work has changed the way she thinks about food and food systems. She’s enjoyed not only the opportunity to prepare plant-forward globally inspired dishes for student dining, but also the impact she can make by educating fellow students about the Menus of Change principles and reducing food waste on campus. Though her work with MOC and MCURC, Naila has also participated in culinary demonstrations and presentations at conferences and annual all-member meetings. Participating in these important thought leadership initiatives has given her a platform to share her work more broadly, as well as connect with fellows and students from other universities and learn from their work.
