Sammy Monsour is a Michelin award-winning chef, cookbook author, educator, and food activist. He is the creator and host of Repertoire on Heritage Radio Network — a traveling video podcast series that brings together chefs and thought leaders shaping the future of food and culture. A third-generation chef and graduate of The Culinary Institute of America, Monsour now teaches at his alma mater, instructing the Food Movement Voices course in the Master’s in Sustainable Food Systems program.
His food and restaurants in Boston and Los Angeles have received acknowledgment and acclaim from the James Beard Foundation, Eater, Los Angeles Times, and Zagat. His commitment to sustainability has earned him a spot on the Good Food 100 list and a Green Star from the City of Los Angeles. Beyond the kitchen, Monsour’s work centers on ocean conservation and sustainable food systems. He sits on the board of Chefs Collaborative and the Smart Catch Impact program, and is a member of the Monterey Bay Aquarium’s Blue Ribbon Task Force. Monsour also serves as a consultant to the Environmental Defense Fund, where he helped launch the Coalition for Sustainable Aquaculture and leads a national team of chef advocates.
