Steve Gundrum brings over 40 years of experience in sales, finance, marketing, and product innovation. Since joining Mattson in 1988, he has led innovation efforts across food, beverage, and food service industries, working with nearly every Fortune 500 food company. During his 20 years as President and CEO, he pioneered influential methods such as Consumer Guidance Panels, ProtoThink™, and Food Studio Ideations, improving collaboration and consumer-driven innovation.
He also led Project Delta, the first open-source food product experiment, highlighted by Malcolm Gladwell. Now Mattson’s Chief AI Officer, Steve is driving the company’s transition into AI, developing tools like MattsonIQ and ProtoThink™ AI to transform how new product ideas are created, tested, and refined.
